Genuine Broaster Chicken located in Versova, Mumbai was another reason why I made a special trip to Mumbai. Broaster Chicken opened its outlet in Mumbai in October 2016 and I had heard a lot about it from my cousin who had attended the opening and met with Chef Harpal Sokhi during the opening. After Mumbai, Broaster Chicken opened up outlets in Surat and Kolkata. Since it’ll take time for them to open an outlet in Delhi and I couldn’t wait to try out some good fried chicken and some of Chef Harpal’s innovations, I flew down to Mumbai from Delhi.
In India whenever you talk about fried chicken you think of KFC because not many places serve good fried chicken. Genuine Broaster Chicken will change your mind because these guys serve the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. The outlet is very well designed and decorated. With both indoor and outdoor seating Broaster Chicken has a good ambiance with music in the background and great service.
To try out the three types of fried chicken they serve, we ordered a platter which had 4 pieces of each type of fried chicken, that is, The Legendary Genuine Broaster Chicken, Chef Harpal’s special innovation Happy Fried Chicken and Hot Masala Chicken. These were served with 3 dips, curry mango jalapeño dip, harrisa dip and Thai sweet chilli dip. Out of the three types of fried chicken my favourite was the Happy Fried Chicken as it had a perfect Indian touch to it as compared to the Genuine Broaster Chicken. For main course we ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh Burger which was a Red Burger with Chef Harpal’s secret Rogan Josh spice mix, boneless lamb patty and caramelised onion. We also ordered the Pan Fried Vietnamese Basa. In the entire meal, the star was the Lamb Rogan Josh Burger because of the amount of innovation it had and the taste of Rogan Josh in a burger is just amazing.
Now that I’m back in Delhi, I am looking forward to Genuine Broaster Chicken opening an outlet here soon. Till then if you’re in Mumbai, Surat or Kolkata, go and try out some amazing fried chicken and great burgers.
